Gore Noir & Atomic Cotton Tshirt contest!

Hello all you artists and photographers!  It's Tshirt contest time!  The top 4 entries with the highest votes and one entry of my choice will be finalists and the winner will be chosen and agreed upon by Atomicotton.com and Gore Noir Magazine to keep the contest fair.  The winner will get their graphic printed by Atomic Cotton and will be available on their website atomicotton.com.  Entries will be accepted from now (Nov. 9th) until the end of November (Nov. 30th).  Contest ends on December 7th and winners will be posted on Dec. 10th.  All entries must be a silk screenable image with 4 or less colors.  PLEASE NO COPYRIGHTED IMAGES!  If you submit an actual picture the finished product will have contrast added and colors removed.  All entries should include our GORE NOIR logo.  An awesome graphic with something going on "inside" the graphic would be cool.  You can also just put the graphic on the top or bottom of the shirt graphic just as long as it's on there.  Voting starts November 23rd when the images are transfered to a contest folder this allows people to create awesome graphics and they don't have to worry about "catching up" to people that did simple graphics. Any other questions feel free to ask here.  Email all entries to info@gorenoir.com or post them to the facebook wall www.facebook.com/gorenoir

Chad Chase of Venom Ink

Chad Chase is one of those artists that has mastered his medium and is at a level that just about every tattoo artist wants to reach.  His ability to bring emotion up through the skin with needle and ink is amazing.  He mixes realism with a touch of the surreal with a perfection that not many can attain.  When you hear about people traveling to get tattoos by artists and you wonder "why would anyone do that" well my friends Chad is the reason why.  We all get the itch to get inked every once in awhile but why throw just anything on us when someone like Mr. Chase can turn your skin into a piece of true art?  I'd much rather look down at my body and see awesome ink than I would look down and see some scratchers sloppy lines on me.

Look for more of Chad's and other amazing tattoo artists work in the next Gore Noir magazine!  Issue #2 is available for purchase and features some hot inked ladies as a 11x17 poster!

Bloody Best Project

Danielle Harris - Bloody Best Project
The Bloody Best Project is DOING exactly what Gore Noir is in the beginning stages of trying to do.  They are depicting your favorite horror celebs in amazing horror photoshoots.  (Although we here at Gore Noir would gladly cover any awesome celeb that is a horror fiend in a nice gore/horror shoot)  We thrive on seeing and bringing to our fans new horror photography!  We look forward to showing you some of Bloody Best's work featuring the likes of Danielle Harris (pictured), Joe Lynch, Kane Hodder, James Gunn, etc..  It's insane how they can almost tell a whole story with just one image.. Their attention to detail is amazing! On a side note we are set up with Tides of Torture which will feature Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, and other horror greats.  Tides of Torture is much more than just a horror convention on a cruise ship.. it's a zombie ball.. celeb poker.. bands will be playing.. It's also the first such horror convention on a boat.. Wanna be a part of history?  Bloody Best and Tides are not affiliated although they are both innovators in the horror world.  We are all for innovation and will do anything we can to see more of the same!

Full Moon Entertainment Event Gary Busey Tommy Chong

As Halloween gets closer in Hollywood all the horror gets ramped up to the extreme.  It's the perfect time of year for Gore Noir magazine to wiggle it's way into the scene and let people know what we are about.  We arrived at the venue which was Meltdown Comics on Sunset (we walked there that's how close to our house it is) and we were greeted by one of Full Moon's employees who handed us our press passes and we slid in and as we were early we got to snap some shots of the scenery.

Everyone was pretty much there to see Gary Busey, Charles Band, and Tommy Chong so we stood around for a bit.. handed out some business cards and stickers and finally Tommy came in with his wife along with him.  Seemed like a very nice guy he signed a few things and posed for pictures like a champ.  Next person to come in was Gary Busey..  I've always thought this guy was a nut..  AND IT'S NOW CONFIRMED..  My girlfriend and fellow Gore Noir coworker got a GingerDead Man DVD for him to sign (We have some pictures of him signing the dolls that will go in the mag) and apparently he couldn't hear us as we handed him a free mag.. he just looked at it blankly..  and picked up his sharpie as if to sign it..  And when I tried to get loud and tell him ITS FREE.. He said "JUST WAIT!"..  NUTSO!

We also met Corpsey from Girls and Corpses magazine (awesome mag by the way i've always had much respect for these guys they put out some innovative cool shit) and we exchanged magazines and talked about banner exchanges and all that fun stuff.

All in all it was a good time and we came home with some Full Moon DVDs to watch and some stories to tell..  and we got our hollywood horror feet wet.

The Vamp Girls

Wouldn't expect any less from a couple horror gals from Las Vegas.  Vampires love feeding on the washed up booze ridden cretins that get lost in the desert.  Who would miss some guy who just dumped his paycheck into a slot machine?  I'm sure it's like snacking on a rum cake.. Get a bit drunk and high off of that hemoglobin.

The set that Gore Noir will be featuring has the Vamp Girls sinking their teeth into some delicious veins that's for sure.  I'm not even a vampire and I wouldn't mind sinking my teeth in!

Abernathy Designs

The emotion that Jacob of Abernathy Designs is able to convey in his images is amazing.  Each one looks like it might have been taken from a security camera that just happened to capture something gruesome.  We are transported into the scene and can't help but feel our guts wrenching as the victims are mutilated.

Most of the artwork that Jacob produces is horror based.  Ranging from zombies to mutilations to movie monster favorites.  They are all lurking just beneath the paper in black and white (and even more deadly when he does color).  Pick up issue 3 of Gore Noir Magazine when it comes out to see more of Abernathy Designs!

Aj Olson Advertising Art Severed Arteries

Aj Olson's Winning Ad
If you aren't one of our fans on Facebook or following on Twitter you probably missed the fact that we were having a free advertising contest for issue #2.  We had some awesome submissions and Aj Olson ended up winning a free full page ad in our next issue.  While we are on the subject of ads I'd like to let you know about opportunities to advertise in the next issue.  Our prices are really low as we like to make advertising affordable and open to everybody.  A business card sized ad is only $20, half page is $50, Full page is $100 and back cover is $300.  We are an independent magazine and all your advertising dollars go to helping us print the issues.  Currently I'm funding all printing costs myself and believe me it's not cheap (and I'm by no means rich).  Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated!  Buy an issue, subscribe, buy an ad, whatever you can afford because we know the money is definitely not rolling in right now.  We like supporting all the people in the horror genre and we'd love some support ourselves so we can keep doing what we are doing.  We set up a shopping cart for the advertising and there are discounts for getting advertising in 3 consecutive magazines so give her a gander!  www.gorenoirads.bigcartel.com and our magazine shopping cart to buy mags and preorder issue #2 and subscribe.  www.gorenoirmagazine.bigcartel.com

Evan Campbell - wicked sculptor

Nightlings - Evan Campbell
When I stumbled across Evan Campbell's page on DeviantArt I was amazed.  How could one person have had their hands in so many of the movies that I love?  From Dusk Till Dawn, Pulp Fiction, Spawn, Nightmare on Elm Street, X-Files.. The list goes on and on.  Needless to say I was really happy when I got the message back that he was interested in being included in the magazine!  His work in the movies aside this gentleman has some of the most emotion filled pieces of sculpture.  You can tell he has a penchant for playing with the textures and elasticity of human skin and stretching it to give the viewer a cringe-worthy eye full.  Morphing humanity into nature and vice versa Evan is definitely a man that leaves no small detail out.  I'm sure you'll be very happy with what you see in the upcoming issues of Gore Noir Magazine

Diamond Dolls get bloody for Gore Noir

The Diamond Dolls were wonderful enough to do a photoshoot for Lucky Fuck Clothing and they couldn't help but get bloody for Gore Noir Magazine as well..  I mean all the ladies out there like getting bloody messy right?  Well the Diamond Dolls and photographer Gary Roberts took it to a whole new level..

Stumbling across a house full of hot women is one thing..  add cannibalism to that soft core porn script and you've just gone horror..  I'm sure Quentin Tarantino is already working on this one haha!  Or maybe Gore Noir should be?  We got any willing videographers? :D  Did I just make up a new word?

You will love the pictures I have in store for you kids in the next magazine!  You'll want to subscribe so you can get issue #1 and all the Diamond Doll bloody goodness in issue #2  SUBSCRIBE/BUY HERE!!

Freak Alternative Photography

As I was gathering up people for the next 2 issues of the magazine I came across Freak Alternative Photography.  The images pretty much speak for themselves.  They are very much pieces of Hollywood movie posters that were ripped out of that genre and displayed for us with a dab of surrealism to make us feel more comfortable at night.  I mean who would be able to get a wink of sleep if Mickey Mouse eared serial killers were stalking the avenues and alleyways?  I sure the fuck wouldn't..

The first thing that popped into my head (and you must forgive me for going off topic.. well actually screw your forgiveness I do what I want!) was "Mickey Mouse is dead.. Got kicked in the head.."  So now not only was I looking through some pretty gruesome photos but I was also playing a Crass soundtrack to them.  Many mental, ocular, and audio orgasms later I was hooked on Freak Alternatives stuff.  You will see for yourself once you buy issue #2 of the magazine.

And on the subject of issue 2 you can purchase a subscription which will allow you to receive the second issue before everyone else as well as issue 1 and subsequent issues.  (issue #2 is due out early sept) www.gorenoirmagazine.bigcartel.com follow the link!

MissNic GORElesque Vixen

If I ever needed a new reason to head on over to Australia MissNic's brand of burlesque would be it.  Branded "GORElesque" and featuring lots of blood and macabre visuals MissNic gives her audiences a show that will delight every horror buff in the crowd.  Gore Noir has the privilege of getting an interview with the blood queen herself and will be giving you some bloody burlesque pictures with which you can feast your eyes on.  We are definitely looking forward to covering her uncovering herself and hopefully in the future heading down under and having her in a Gore Noir party!  Stay tuned.

GORE noir Mag Release party!

The magazine release party was a blast!  We had close to 100 people show up and partake in the awesome bands that left our eardrums thoroughly fucked and bloody and the blood wrestling that coated the back room of the venue in a film of authentic fake veinious excretion.  Needless to say the venue wasn't pleased although we did line their pockets with our hard earned beer money.  The blood will definitely be thicker next time around and the venue that allows us to bleed out all over their floors.  I've been gathering up talented people for our next couple issues and let me be the first (won't be the last) to say that the new issues are going to be bloody fucking awesome! You definitely won't want to miss out!  Click the lil link above and subscribe or order the first mag of bloody goodness!

There's no question why these awesome pictures will be showing up in the next issue of Gore Noir Mag..  Jess's hot, she's got that awesome red hair in these photos, nice and bloody, and TwistedPix rocked em like no other.  TwistedPix will have a feature in the 2nd mag and so will Jess.  What else would you need from a horror shoot?  You'll definitely want to subscribe to the mag.. Believe me there will be lots of beautiful horror to feast your eyes on.  We love mixing up the sexiness with the horror and chilling it on ice for your consumption.  We're only at the tip of the iceberg and I'm already giddy from what I've got in store for you people.  Buy or subscribe here

Jay Bird - Patient 247 - Working on issue 2

Welp it's about the time to start working on a new issue and keep that momentum going!  What better way to get the creative juices flowing than with some zombie ladies spilling their bodily fluids all over the page?  That's not a question because there is no better way.. Jay gets into some nice detail with his zombie art and still leaves you with a smile because there's a bit of sense of humor there with his art.  The ladies seem to be living life as normal like nothing has changed..  "Oh my arm is half gone? Doesn't stop me from partying one bit.."  You'll definitely want to check out his artwork in the next issue of Gore Noir and all the other artists I have in store for you kids.  Just imagine issue #1 on steriods (so much so that it's eyes have bugged out and the skin can't keep the muscles inside.. POP!)  Until the next post do us a favor and let your friends know about us will you?  We're relying on word of mouth!

People are raving.. Why haven't you bought yours?

Loving all the people diggin' the mag!  If you didn't know the first issue is out and the first batch of shipments are showing up in peoples mail boxes!  Just about everyone who's preordered is choosing to upgrade to a subscription!  I feel really honored for sure!  I'm going to start work on the new issue here soon and depending on how long it takes me to fill the 60 pages (shooting for releasing mags every 3 months) you'll be seeing the evolution of Gore Noir magazine (more of the same but better organized and designed, and higher quality printing)  I'm also shipping out the first order to a store (looking for more as well if you'd like to buy wholesale 5+ copies of the first issue let me know info@gorenoir.com)  I'm making lots of contacts that will definitely make for awesome magazines in the future so you'll definitely want to stay tuned.  We've also got a magazine release party planned in San Francisco click here for details.  Come out and support the magazine and buy a copy straight from us.

The search for stores!

We have been ULTRA busy this last month getting stuff together (and with life!) Haven't really been able to start looking for shops to carry our magazine as of yet.  The first one that I had in mind was Finder's Creepers in Iowa and would ya know it?  They are stoked to carry our magazine!  They carry all types of awesome stuff (I've had to part with some of my money once or twice because it was that awesome) If you know of any shops like this, book shops, magazine shops, comic book stores, etc. that might carry our magazine please let us know!  Email us at:  robertrafter@gmail.com  We have got the shirts and stickers in and the magazines should be here tomorrow!  You can buy those here:  www.gorenoirmagazine.bigcartel.com

Presale open! GN shirts and stickers!

It's creepin' up on that time!  The first magazine is about 2-1/2 weeks out and I've decided to make some shirts and stickers so you can wear your shirt and stick a sticker on your forehead while you read the first issue.  It completes the experience and who would be caught dead without one of these sexy shirts?  I'm sure if you are a virgin they'll definitely get you laid..  I mean what lady doesn't love blood?

So to sum everything up:  1) buy magazine, shirt, and sticker 2) get laid

Corpses Rise Again!

So we unfortunately weren't able to get the Stellar Corpses into the first mag but they'll definitely be in the second.  Taryn (Missy D photography) was at their show last night and snapped some pretty awesome pictures of the band doing their thing.  Look forward to Taryn's pictures as well as an interview with the boys in our next issue.  First issue should be available around the first week of May.  Keep your eyes peeled!

Dellamorte & Co.

Ranging from severed hands to crazy skull bishops Dellamorte & Co. has a wonderfully macabre style that definitely piqued my interest from the beginning.  (I'm a sucker for severed body parts?)  If I could somehow get my hands of every piece of artwork that they do my trailer would be complete. HINT HINT They'd fit right in with my skull collection and my newly purchased prosthetic hook arm/hand.   I look forward to finding out a bit more about the process from idea to finished piece and I'm sure your eyeballs will be delighted by Dellamorte's artwork!

Bosom Banner Buddies

Feel free to steal this banner (click on it and it should open the image then right click that bad boy or drag and drop) and target it to:  http://www.gorenoir.com  All your support is greatly appreciated!  Without the encouragement from everyone I don't think I would have got through the making of the first issue.  Now that we've got to the top of the first mountain it's smooth sailing from here.  We still have ad space open for the first issue if you are interested email:  info@gorenoir.com  Forward that to friends you think might benefit from ad space in our mag thanks!

Kris Sanders

I've always had a thing for masks.  You put them on and it doesn't matter who you are but your whole persona changes.  I remembered watching G.I. Joe and always rooting for the Cobras because they had the coolest helmets and masks.  When Brandy at As You Wish Photography sent me Kris Sanders link to check out and see if I wanted to have the stuff included to be truthful I was expecting something different, and what I got was some grade A straight out of a childhood nightmare mask maker.  I can't wait to design Kris's layout for the 2nd mag.  Expect great things from Gore Noir magazine and everyone involved because from what is coming through the wire you won't want to miss any of our mags!

Brent Engstrom

It's really tough for anyone when you have big shoes to fill or people have expectations based on something from their childhood.  Garbage Pail Kids were a part of my childhood that I remember vividly.  My Grandma would go get her hair done and I'd get a pack or two of garbage pail kids.  Brent Engstrom's style not only lives up to the classic Garbage Pail Kids style but I believe it takes it up a notch and sets the bar all that much higher.  When you blend something like classic horror characters with GPK style well..  check out the photo to the left to see..  You'll be seeing more of Brent in the second issue of Gore Noir and until then take a look at his personal website and buy some stuff!

people still do that?

I don't know exactly what killed the written letter.. was it the telephone or email?  I think it was more of a one two punch if you ask me.  Either way I tried finding an email or some contact information for one of the best more horrifying artists to traumatize my childhood:  Stephen Gammell.  I for the life of me couldn't find an email ANYWHERE!  Oh noooo!  The only thing that popped up was a PO BOX and I can't NOT get this awesome artists work into my magazine right?  RIGHT?  So I wipped out one of those old things called a pen and put it to that stuff called paper. (this stuff has lines on it!  and it doesn't get fed into your printer! GASP!)  After several cramps in my hands/fingers (guess those bad boys just hadn't dealt with that much writing in a long time) I had a finished letter!  Now I send and wait.. and wait.. and wait..  I hope he gets back to me because I think it'd complete my whole existence if he did.. Do I sound like much of a fan boy?  lol!  I'll include some of his artwork below so you can become a fan boy or fan girl or if you already know who he is you can take a walk down memory lane.

Blood Art of Dr. Rev

I may be weird but whenever I have a bloody nose I like dripping a bit of the blood in the sink and taking a picture of it.  I've even gone as far as to drip some on a piece of paper and fold it to make a sort of "bloody" rorschach.  You could say I have a thing for blood.  Taking it to a whole higher level is Dr. Rev and his paintings.  He blends traditional painting and air brushing together to create beautiful crimson works of art.  Did I mention he uses his own blood as paint?  Check out our second issue (the first issue should be available shortly) of Gore Noir to see the process this artist goes through to create a bloody masterpiece.

Add him on facebook!

80% done with first issue!

From the beginning I've told myself there was no deadline for the first issue.  I wanted to put the right foot forward and make sure the first issue wasn't rushed.  With that said we are 80% done with our first foot and it's looking pretty right.  I have nothing against left feet but the old adage doesn't say "put the left foot forward" so sorry lefty!  We are just trying to get our communal feet in the door here at Gore Noir magazine and I don't want to mess up a possibly good thing and then end up having to put my foot in my mouth you know?

Torture Couture - Devilish Jewelry

I'm a huge fan of jewelry even though I wear absolutely none myself. (maybe its because I'm a guy)  I've came up with ideas for several pieces and Torture Couture pretty much makes jewelry in line with the styles that pop into my head.  They make anything from hair accessories to rings and necklaces, all with a dark twist of course.  Did I mention they get the most beautiful models to work for them?  And they get all bloody and evil in the photos?  Well they do!  Look for more pictures of their beautiful models and an interview in the first issue of Gore Noir Magazine!

The Enigma - Sideshow Extroardinare

First impressions..  Double takes.. Odd questions.. Wonder.. Curiosity..  The Enigma is a walking billboard for his own imagination.  Most people just want their thoughts and ideas to be seen or heard by other people.  Enigma puts it all out there on his skin.  He performs in a sideshow with other extraordinary people (who just may make an appearance in the photos we'll cross our fingers) He's been on X-files, featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not..  The list goes on and now we bring you The Enigma's horror fan side.  We'll have an interview and horror themed photoshoot with the man himself.  Are you excited?  I sure as hell am

French

In our attempt to bring you all that is horror or horror inspired I've scoured the net and culled the cream of the crop.  French is part of those 1% of artists that make you sit back and just say.. "wow"  You could go on and describe what it makes you feel but then you'd be cheapening the whole experience.  The devil is in the details and French brings the detail like very few artists these days.  He's definitely inspired me to step up my game!  Expect to see lots of French's work in the the pages of our magazine!

The crazed man that is Tattoo 23

Tattoo 23 and Bindi Baby, As You Wish Photography
Chucky obsessed Tattoo 23 has a brilliant body of "modeling" work that one way or another makes you take notice.  The first time I came across his work was through a friend.  She knew I was getting into the horror photography thing and linked me to the picture you see to the left.  I was hooked.  It's easy for someone to stand in front of a camera and get their picture taken.  It's very hard on the other hand to bring the life to pictures that Tattoo 23 brings to every one of the photos he's in.

Just wait till you see the Christmas themed horror pictures that Tattoo 23 and Brandy at As You Wish Photography created..  They are totally ho ho horror filled lol!

Degrading, Depraving, Debouchery

If you haven't heard Necro's music give em a listen.. You'll feel like your ear drums just got molested by that dirty bum drinking wild turkey in the gutter.  Nothing is taboo for the "king of deathrap".  Sex, horror, drugs, you name it we'll all wallow in it and soak it up like a sponge.  Not the kind of music you'll want to let your momma hear you listening to unless your momma is a crack whore from the tenderloin in Frisco.  We'll take a stroll through Necro's sick mind and we'll be gracing your eyes with a blood-filled photoshoot (of course) with him as well.  Until then check out this video we leave you with.  WARNING:  if you suffer from a pretentious uptight sphincter you'll probably want to avoid us as a whole and you definitely won't want to watch the video..  or hell go ahead and watch/listen to it and write a bunch of letters to someone so we can all get some free publicity out of the deal.  That way we all win.. you get something to complain about because you have nothing better to do and we get the recognition we all deserve.  DIE!

whimsy and horror?

One of my favorite parts of horror is it's ability to make me laugh.. "Laugh?" you say?  Yep, horror has an ability to be so over the top and silly that it makes me chuckle.  While I'm not quite sure if that's what MeliJulie has in mind with her pictures, they definitely convey a LOAD of her character to the viewer.  I can easily imagine a kids saturday morning show with her as the host and it going from "just playing" to "bloody slaying" in no time.  Run kids!  She's got a knife!

NikytaGaia Photography

Tension, turmoil, terror..  Other then beginning with a T what else do all these words have in common?  If you guessed that they are all conveyed beautifully by Nikyta Gaia Photography's photos you'd be correct.  I'll take photographers that understand what horror is all about for two hundred Alex.  It's truly amazing when an artist can seemingly tell a whole story in one frame.  It's also very hard to do all this with devilishly simplistic subject matter and not make it look contrived.  Believe me you'll want to see what's in Gore Noir mag's first issue.
